CAIXINHA DA MEMÓRIA – que histórias têm sobre a cal?
Memory box – what can you share about lime?

The workshop in Lourinhã – Storytelling and Placemaking
October, 10 – 12, 2022

Stay tuned as there will be more updates and the final agenda in the coming weeks.

In this workshop we want to discuss the power and benefits of storytelling and placemaking to create new bonds of the citizens to their heritage assets.

storyLabs will build and analyse a community-based inventory of narratives, memories and stories associated to natural and built heritage in the municipality of Lourinhã. The use of digital and mobile tools, such as timelines, audio, videos and images, calls for and enables co-creation of non-traditional forms of engagement.

The scientific core are communication sciences, supported by an inter- and transdisciplinary and integrated tactic involving further scientific areas, such as anthropology, spatial planning and studies, history/archaeology, art, geography and lifelong learning approaches.

The Municipality of Lourinhã is in the core of storyLabs with its cultural, natural and built landscapes, which includes rich heritage assets, as the revitalisation process of Paimogo Fort as a memory fort, vine production yards, geological and paleontological remains (dinosaurs’ fossilised bones, eggs with embryos and footprints). The western region of which take part Lourinhã, well known for the fossil and geological tracks is aspiring to become a UNESCO Global Geopark and storyLabs supports a further step in this direction.

In Lourinhã our attention will be devoted to support the community in building the route of lime (rota da cal), connecting the main assets and the landscapes they are inserted in.
